Ljubljana

Ljubljana, the charming capital of Slovenia is one of its top 3 attractions, and it is a perfect base to enjoy any day trips in Slovenia. Explore its medieval old town and the old Roman ruins, admire the river banks and bridges of the Ljubljanica river, and take the funicular up to Ljubljana castle for great views of the city and the Alps. Relax in Tivoli park and in the numerous restaurants and cafés where people of all ages meet. Marvel in the architectural beauties, marked by influences of neighbouring Italian and Viennese styles of the previous centuries.

Maribor - European capital of culture 2012

Maribor is a cosmopolitan city on the banks of the river Drava, full of tourist attractions. Although you can easily visit it as a day trip from Ljubljana, Maribor has become a popular city break or a weekend break destination. A visit to Maribor must be part of every tour to Slovenia. Maribor is embraced by wine-growing hills on all sides. Its Historic town centre is marked by the Austrian influence, and we will admire the lively and colourful squares - Grajski trg (Castle square), Slomškov trg (Slomšek square) and Glavni trg (Main square), and in Lent, the old river port. It is possible to cover all these attractions on a walking tour of Maribor. The pinnacle of Maribor culture has been the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2012.

Goriška brda region

Forget Provence and Tuscany; Slovenia’s region of Goriška Brda is Europe’s next hidden gem, waiting to be explored. This is a land of gently rolling hills, covered with orchards and vineyards and dotted with small, forgotten villages. The gentle climate assures ideal growing conditions for grapes and Mediterranean fruits: cherries, peaches and apricots. There is no mass production here, but the wine growers of Goriška Brda are world famous for the quality of their wine, and wine connoisseurs will recognise many of the names as we travel through Goriška Brda.

Škocjan UNESCO caves

Visit the UNESCO-listed Škocjan caves, a major tourist attraction in Slovenia and perhaps the most beautiful cave in the world. The Škocjan Caves remain the only natural monument in Slovenia and the Classical Karst region on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites. Thus, they hold a significant position among the world’s natural monuments. The exceptional volume of the underground canyon is what distinguishes the Škocjan Caves from other caves and places and is easily placed among the most famous underground features in the world.

Lipica stud farm

Visit the Lipica stud farm – home of the world renowned Lipizzaner horses, made famous by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna – and see these elegant horses in training for the performances. The Lipica Stud Farm is nowadays one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments in Slovenia, its rich history reaching back to the year 1580. It has been boasting the tradition of breeding and selecting pure-breed horses ever since. In the 1960’s, the Lipica Stud Farm established the Classic Riding School which still participates in worldwide equestrian events. Lipica successfully combines the rich natural and cultural heritage of the unique karst setting with a modern tourism offer.
