Foodie? Course you are. Oh, and you’re in for such a treat. With many of the same highlights of the evening tour, we start with a tour of the Boqueria, one of the world’s most famous food markets. This is one of the defining experiences in Barcelona, where we’ll taste a range of cold-cuts and Iberian ham, alongside cheeses from Catalunya and Spain. We’ll take some pan con tomate and red wine in a small, historical charcuteria, where all the locals go for their products, and afterwards we’ll learn about the production of olive oil with an oil tasting. Naturally, we’ll have a table reserved just for us…. Then we’ll head to a wine bar and tapas bar, where we’ll be treated to a wine tasting and well, tapas!
This place hasn’t changed much in 70 years, and you can tell. All the best of tradition and technique, it’s a real feast for the senses.
Finally, we’ll head to El Born, one of the trendier parts of town where history meets with the urban fashionistas, artists and hipsters of BCN. We’ll taste yet more tapas, accompanied by traditional Catalan champagne in one of the very best tapas restaurants around. Delicious.
It stands to reason that this glorious trip around Barcelona will pass through various historical squares, secret passages, and via its many great cathedrals and monuments, all of which will be explained as we head towards our numerous foodie destinations.
