This cultural and gourmet visit allows you to take full advantage of the French-style way of life. Throughout the itinerary, different stopovers are also planned to allow you to taste the best of the local specialities.
We start our itinerary at Place Saint-Jean. Therefore, you will be able to appreciate the authentic Renaissance charms of the oldest neighbourhood of Lyons. You will be able to admire one of its typical “traboules”. The first break, for “breakfast”, will treat you to a praline speciality, the famous pink sweet comprising an almond coated with sugar.
We will then pass through the legendary Passerelle du Palais, which offers an exceptional view over the city. The itinerary continues on the other side of the Saône, where the bourgeoisie settled from the 17th century. While making your way along Quai Saint-Antoine, you will be able to savour the gentle way of life in Lyons. Slightly further on, Rue de Mercière reveals its traditional Lyons “bouchons”. Our dedicated guide will recount the history of these famous “Mères lyonnaises” which have shaped the city’s gourmet reputation since the 19th century.
We will also stop at one of the stores of the famous Voisin chocolate maker to taste the famous “Coussins de Lyon”. This inimitable chocolate and marzipan recipe is in the shape of the cushions used by Lyons silk weavers. Since the 1960s it has been one of the symbols of the local heritage.
A little later, public transport will lead us to Halles Paul Bocuse in the modern Part-Dieu neighbourhood to the east. This centre of Lyons gastronomy brings together the leading products of the region. Cold meats, cheese, quenelles, chocolate, wines, and more, the selection of products to be tasted vary according to the season. But, every visit ensures gourmet pleasure! In this unique ambiance, savour the delicious regional specialities.
