Buckwheat dumplings – Ajdovi štruklji – rolls with cottage cheese feeling is a very traditional and very popular dish that can be served as side dish with different stews, or with fruits and honey or sugar as a dessert.

This Slovenian national dish is usually served together with meat, sausages, stews or sauerkraut. Dumplings are very simple to make, and buckwheat is widely grown all over Slovenia. Buckwheat is also the main ingredient of many breads, porridge and stews in Slovenia.
